Katherine Aelias...
studied music informally for several years, rocking out in her car while commuting in the New york metropolitan area. In 1997 she received a gift of a mandolin and has been playing mandolin, guitar and bass ever since. Although Katherine had always been a writer she had never sung or played an instrument before. The Lindenberry Beat Reduction and the Katherine Aelias Band have been her exclusive outlets for her music. Before becoming a musician Katherine was a model and a mortgage broker. Along with her work with the band, Katherine is also a nutritionist running juice fasting retreats at her Gentle Earth Retreat Center (GentleEarthRetreats.com) Jeff Coleman...
is a multi instrumentalist and has played guitar, mandolin and bass with the Katherine Aelias Band. The leads heard on the Bands recordings are most often electric mandolin. Jeff was taught his first chords by is brother Fred. Jeff played bass for several years in the Long Island rock band Fungus. In 1986 he released the classic album "Road Song" with his brother Fred featuring intricate finger picking styles on Martin guitars. Jeff again returned to bass playing with several upstate New York rock bands, most notably Budha Nature where he united with guitar wizard Jon Pargh, whom he had played with since he was 11. (Jon's playing appears on "Road Song" and on the Katherine Aelias Band's new cd "Ripped at the Seams") In 1997 Jeff hooked up with Katherine Aelias and the rest is history. (see band history)
Paul Miller...
has been playing percussion for 30 years, most frequently in musical theatre pit orchestras in New York and New Jersey where he retired after over 2000 performances of such shows as Tommy, Jesus Christ Superstar, Godspell, Little Shop of Horrors, Chess, and many others. He has supported Tony and Emmy award winning performers and enjoys playing all styles, from rock to jazz to classical (he played tympani in a symphony orchestra and was the #1 rated high school drummer in New Jersey.) One day, he would like to start an electric jazz/fusion band to perform the music of The Yellowjackets, The Rippingtons, Chick Corea, Weather Report, and others, as well as original compositions. He loves working with Kathy and Jeff's music, increasing its complexity and setting grooves around which the band can really gel.
Jon Pargh...
Jon's playing appears on "Road Song" and on the Katherine Aelias Band's new cd "Ripped at the Seams." His soaring lead guitar work has expanded the boundaries of the Katherine Aelias Band sound, juxtaposing with Kathy's subtle vocal and opening up new passages of musical counterpoint in the rhythm section. John also plays in Ithaca's greatest original classic rock bang, GoGone.
Rob Williamson...
Rob joined the band in 2007, bringing a new level of depth to the music, literally, with his killer 5 string bass and a rock solid sense of timing. He has been playing the bass for over 20 years and enjoys all styles, having played in classic rock, 90's Alternative, southern rock, heavy metal, bluegrass, and "wedding" bands. He enjoys playing music with feel and dynamics, Katherine Aelias Band hallmarks, and is thrilled to be doing original music where he can contribute a new rythmic and tonal flavor. Kat Patton...
Kat completed high school and college in upstate New York where she focused far more time on theatrical pursuits than she did on her career development. In the late 70’s, for no apparent reason, she began a very time consuming tour of the continental United States and Alaska. Kat has performed as a singer and dancer, tortured herself for two years as a stand up comic, made one very boring television commercial and created the role of Paula in “The Cavewomen of Gorr Nearly Meet the Lizardmen” which won honorable mention at the Atlanta Film Festival. Really. Kat brings to the Katherine Aelias Band halfway decent legs and a voice that fortunately blends well with that of our absolutely fabulous namesake. As a tribute to Phoebe Buffet, in real life, Kat is a massage therapist.
